Kolczyk Kronicals, Christmas 2009

Matthew 1:23 “Look, the virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and he will be called Immanuel (meaning, God with us).”

Even though we read this message during the Christmas season, it never gets old. Hearing and knowing that God cared so much for us that He sent his son to redeem us is the message we love to hear over and over. Redemption is what it is all about, paying with His life for what we could not, the living sacrifice that did not crawl off the altar! He went willingly even though it cost Him His life. Only God could do such a thing and only God can love in that way. During this holiday season, let’s focus on unconditional love, passing it on, “infecting” somebody with it. This is a “virus” worth passing on because it will do the ultimate, giving eternal healing. From our house to yours, may you and your family have a blessed Christmas and New Year!

Martin just returned from his best ever campus visit to Frontier School of the Bible! This school holds three mission conferences: one in September, the so called Home Missions Conference, with its focus on ministries and agencies serving the US, and, two International Mission Conferences, one in November and the other in February. The last two concentrate on missions serving abroad. Missions agencies are invited to introduce the students to different opportunities and are encouraged to choose where God may have them serve in the future. Martin has been visiting Frontier for five years and has been invited to attend each year. At present, it is our most fruitful school. The Lord has given us two students to serve the whole summer this coming year in the Czech Republic. One will remain, go south to Poland and do his eight month internship. The second will return to Frontier for his senior year and, in 2011, plans to return to the Czech Republic to do his eight month internship. Both
are using their time on the field as a “test drive” for long term ministries.

A team of at least 5 are heading to Kosova, part of the former Yugoslavia, to serve at our Bible Camp up in the mountains. All of them are searching the Lord for long term ministries. The missions prof is taking a vision team of 8-12 students to the Czech Republic, Poland, Macedonia and Kosova to expose them to different countries and also to see if the Lord would call them back to serve Him. Two students are heading to Alaska and one other one from my home church is going to Kosova for an 8 month internship. Someone once asked Martin if all those miles driving pay off and his resounding answer was “yes they do!” Frontier is just one of seven schools that send students with us.

Between Christmas and New Years, Martin will again be part of SEND’s Urbana Team. The Urbana missions conference, which takes place every three years in St. Louis, is the largest in the world, attracting well over 20,000 students world wide to meet missions agencies to begin their search of where the Lord would have them serve. It will be interesting to see who the Lord brings to us. In years past, our present General Director was impacted by this conference and is serving with us because of Urbana. Please be praying for this conference and that the Lord would set up God ordained appointments for us. We could fill 200 ministry positions right now in 21 countries not to speak of opening four new fields in Central Asia! The need is huge, so pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers.

We finally are done with the work on our home! Praise the Lord for a warm and dry basement and the completion of other projects which came up unexpectedly due to the basement work. Thank you to those that have been involved financially and those of you who held us up in prayer. It’s a huge load off our backs.

We are now in the planning stage to visit Europe in April to lay the foundation for all those teams, internships and individuals moving in that direction. Martin is in contact with area directors, working out details, budgets and points of ministry. With all those campus visits, Urbana and working with individual students, we have a full plate even when schools close for the Christmas holidays. Martin is asked to speak in classes or teach when visiting plus meet with students or groups to address issues pertaining to missions or their lives. He often counsels students to help them with attainable goal setting. That’s what student ministry is all about and we love it.

Thank you so much for your ministry to us and being part of our team. It is a pleasure to represent you and serve the Lord at the same time. As always, we stress we could not do it without you. So many of you have been with us since 1988 and we are so thankful for your faithfulness. We are amazed at the caliber of young people that rise to the occasion to answer the Lord’s call to make disciples of all nations. It will be a glorious day when those people stand before the throne of grace because you prayed and you invested in us to make the difference! Sometimes we lose sight of the big picture and just look short range. But there is a day coming, and who knows how long the Lord will tarry, when we are snatched up to see Him face to face. It will be a joyous gathering of all nations, tongues and people.

May the Lord bless you richly!
